"I started playing violin when i was 6 years old. Afterwards i also picked up el. bass and guitar etc. I got interested in rock music around 12-13 years old. Nirvana and Metallica, James brown and Jimi
Hendrix were few of my first interests in rock field.
The Rasmus started in 1994, i was 14 at that time. We started playing in school parties and youth-community houses and |
such places... The Rasmus has done 6 studio albums and the fifth, Dead Letters, was the major breakthrough. I'm also interested in other kinds of music styles besides and beyond the style that I've performed most of my musical career - that's why Hay & Stone exists. Our inspirations are coming from retro rock, from such artists as Cream, Jimi Hendrix experience, Jack Johnson, Paul Simon etc. Hay & Stone is definately a group that has value of improvisation in it. I enjoy it a lot. Improvisation is one great thing about music - trying to achieve a beautiful sound without thinking what the fingers are doing on the instrument, or what the voice is doing... It's like a meditation.
There are lot of artists that i look up to: motown artists inspire me lately, The White Stripes, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Hendrix, Marshall Mathers LP, Pink Floyd, Caetano Veloso, Nat King Cole, Okean Elzy, Police, Pearl Jam, Playschool".

"I started to play guitar when I was 9 years old. At first music was a nice hobby to me, but as years went on it started to take more time. Nowadays most things that I do are somehow connected to music. Although music is for me rather a lifestyle than a profession. used to listen to bands like Bon Jovi, Metallica and Van Halen. Some bands from the grunge period in the nineties were important, like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. You can't forget Red Hot Chili Peppers and also some artists from the seventies like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. Nowadays I listen to all kinds of music from jazz to heavy. When I hear something new, I like to find more about that new music. I've been playing with different bands in Helsinki and doing gigs around Finland . My best known band Korpi Ensembe is releasing its second album "Trails" in 25 th of October. Korpi Ensemble's music is a kind of mixture from different kinds of music styles like pop, jazz and folkmusic".

HANNU RISKU

"I started to play piano when I was 6 years old in childrens summertime music camp. A drumteacher from the camp asked from my parents that could I come also to drumlessons because he doesn't have enough students. I went and fell in love instantly. After some years I got my first drums and I went to learn classical percussion for a ten years, marimba and stuff. First albums I owned were Dingo |
(finnish band) and Blues Brothers soundtrack. When I was fifteen I was listening Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar Sex Magic every day once or twice (my parents still know the songs). We had bands with my friends playing rock, rap and soul. I've always liked all kind of music. Only thing that matters is what kind of feelings music awakes in me. I've always been intrested in different musical cultures. One of my dreams came true few years ago when I was studying african drumming in Ghana for a three months. One thing I'm in love this moment is improvisation. I am a musician in a improvisation theatre in Helsinki and improvisation is somehow including in all the music I'm playing. I have few other bands also playing soul, folk, jazz and african music. My favourite artists are Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, J.S. Bach, Keith Jarrett, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Aretha Franklin, Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits, Zbigniew Preisne..."
